Muong Khuong Market – Sapa Hilltribe 4days 3nights.
Day 1 :
HTS tour guide will pick up at 7:30pm from your hotel and transfer you to the Hanoi Railway Station for the overnight train to Sapa. You will travel in a/conditioned, 4 berth soft sleeper cabins, where you will spend the night.
Meet your Sapa guide and driver on your arrival to Lao Cai Station early in the morning, freshen up and enjoy breakfast before transferring 55km to Muong Khuong. The road was recently upgraded to ensure a smooth drive and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lush mountainous region along the way, with some stops for nature wanders and photos. Arriving at the market place, you will spend the whole morning joining the local tribal peoples, from different groups, and coming from remote villages to attend the market for their most important weekend activities Shopping of course! You can see a variety of things for sale from farming products, medicinal herbs, spices to Chinese made electronic appliances, clothing and more… but is not as important as meeting, contacting, socializing and enjoying the food! It is easy to recognize the H’mong and Zao through their colorful dresses and head gear who are the at the market. The Ha Nhi, Tu Zi, Tu Lao peoples, in smaller numbers, wear unique traditional costumes which are not so colorful but never the less beautiful. You will sit down for a simple lunch while the market is closing down. The journey back to Lao Cai is more interesting, having many chances for personal contact with locals on their way back to their villages. Then the road goes uphill to Sapa and offers spectacular views of mountains and valleys to make the drive seem shorter. Arriving in Sapa in middle afternoon, check into your hotel and enjoy a leisurely walk around this charming town. your night is free, to make personal discoveries.
Starting from the hotel with your guide, you will follow a trail running through fruit orchards, gardens and lush pine forests to a Black Hmong ethnic minority village named Matra, isolated from civilization. Chickens, water buffalos, pot belly pigs and piggeries are everywhere, some locals will be happy to invite you into their home, which offers the chance to see their dwellings, and weavings on their belly looms, used to make traditional costumes out of hemp fibre. Our path weaves itself up and down hills, through valleys with terraced rice fields which create spectacular landscapes. After a picnic lunch, we arrive at Ta Phin Commune where the Black H’mong and the Red Zao live together. It is very interesting to see the culture assimilation. At the end of the footpath, our car is waiting for you, for the return journey to Sapa.
This morning you will explore the spectacular Muong Hoa Valley. A Jeep will take us out of the town, following the only road built on the side of a mountain range, looking down the valley and over-the magnificent landscapes composed of high mountains, deep valleys, and stream of water winding, waterfalls and terraced rice paddies, a walking trail can be seen clearly from the road, winding up and down hills on the other side of Muong Hoa River to connect villages.
Our suggested walk starts from Lao Chai village of the H’mong along the river to Ta Van, a Dzay village. Our Jeep will pick you up at Ta Van Bridge and drive back to Sapa at noon.
The afternoon is at your leisure, for wandering Sapa town and markets until late afternoon when you transfer down hill to Lao Cai station and catching the overnight train for your return to Hanoi.
Our journey ends when you arrive in Hanoi early next morning, at 6:00 am. Take a taxi by yourself to your Hanoi hotel.
