HTS tour will pick up at 8:30am, start your Tho Ha Village – Dong Ky Wood Village tour by driving 52 km to Tho Ha village. Take the chance having a to enjoy the countryside views, see farmers working in the green fields with their water buffalo, At around 10.15 you cross the Cau River by local ferry, then you will meander around to visit local families and learn more about the local culture, with their daily lives.
Discover the village through a maze of narrow and zigzag alleys, old houses have been constructed from broken parts of terracotta from the past. Walk through the village cemetery to the dike, where you can see the village from a distance, over the beautiful lake.
Tho Ha village is known for rice wine and cassava wine, its pigs and rice paper cakes, and most recently the villages special walls have attracted film producers, painters, photographers.
At 12.30. Have a lunch with local hosts and then a guided tour to visit a pottery family, workshop. Tho Ha pottery used to be fired with dry grass, and then firewood and coal. Businessmen came from Hanoi and surrounding locations animating Cau River with boats and trade activity. In the early 1980s, Tho Ha villagers turned to making aluminum and plastic products, traditional cakes, and raising animals as pottery was gradually abandoned.
At 2pm while returning to Hanoi, you will stop to visit Dong Ky wood carving village where there are many display showrooms to visit. Originally, carpentry was a side hobby for the inhabitants of Dong Ky, however, poverty forced the villagers to concentrate their skills on this occupation. Some 12,000 residents now prosper from the trade with the increasing demand from hotels, restaurants, and exporters for their quality, hand carved furniture and crafts. The wood work here is also famous for its meticulously inlaid mother of pearl. After visiting Dong Ky village, we head back to Hanoi
